Come with me this Friday morning. We’ll make a day of it.
Wear your prettiest sun dress and finest floral perfume.
We’ll fill this carefree Friday with lots of little nothings of pleasure.
We’ll wander about my beloved town, Hermanus, where time seems to stand still.
A long lazy day soaked in mellow moments that hover on the horizon, stretch before us.
We’ll meander along narrow sandy footpaths. Winding along steep mountain sides, deep valleys and meadows. The smell of sun warmed earth. Lavender, rosemary, wild flowers and tall grasses. Purple morning glories and tiny white blooms of jasmine. Chirping hummingbirds flit between blossoms. In a flurry of gleaming green, blue and red wings.
Hazy purple mountain ranges disappear below unending skies. A majestic backdrop, echoing sunshine and draping deep valleys in sweltering hot shades.
Below us whales frolic in the gun-metal grey ocean. White foamy surf tease the shore. Making seashells sing.
Where the mountains meet the sea, we’ll roam miles of soft, sandy beaches, leaving only footprints at the water’s edge. Our skins absorb sunshine, begging for more. Our bodies youthful, a pleasure to live inside of.
In the middle distance magnificent vistas of sunflower yellow and green rolling hills meet azure sky. Budding vineyards nestle in deep shadowed valleys.
God’s presence smiling all around us.
